WE ARE ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF
LONG COVID SCIENCE
BeNourished® his now in its 6th year of supporting Long COVID and vaccine injured clients, we have formed alliances with some of the leading scientists, researchers and laboratories within this field. We specialise in Long COVID nutritional and quantum biology support. Through our own dedicated research and in clinic testing we have started to piece together "The Long Covid Microbiome Phenotype" and continue to explore the research and search for solutions.
Rachel works with clients across the UK and internationally via online consultations.
We collaborate with leading researchers, laboratories and advocacy organisations in post-viral illness

UK STATISTICS
"University of Southampton researchers examined information collected by NHS England that showed 4.8% of people reported having Long Covid."

LIMITED INTERVENTIONS
"The analysis of more than 750,000 responses to a GP Patient Survey found that 9.1% of people believe they may have long Covid."
UNDERDIAGNOSED
"It is estimated that around 71% of people with the condition have now had it for more than a year."
LONG COVID SYMPTOMS
People with Long COVID may experience health problems from different types and combinations of symptoms, including respiratory, neurological, cardiac and psychological problems. These symptoms vary widely from person to person and can become:
MANY PEOPLE MAY ALSO BE DIAGNOSED WITH:
✔️ PoTS (Post Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
✔️ MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)
✔️ hEDS (Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)
✔️ ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Syndrome)

-
Persistent, meaning they developed during the initial COVID-19 infection and never went away
-
Recurrent, meaning they were present during the initial infection, resolved, and then returned
-
New, meaning they were not present during the initial COVID-19 infection
Symptoms of Long COVID can range in severity from mild to debilitating and may significantly impact a person’s quality of life.
THE MICROBIOME AND LONG COVID: Our Clinical Research Approach
THE LONG COVID MICROBIOME PHENOTYPE
“I propose that this phenotype is exacerbated by at least eight mechanisms: gut‑associated viral persistence, SARS‑CoV‑2 acting in a bacteriophage‑like manner, spike‑derived toxic peptides, LPS translocation amplified by spike protein, industry‑originated probiotic contamination, glyphosate (and other chemical, food and agriculture derived toxins consumed with our food), HPA axis shifts and as‑yet uncharacterised microbiota structures such as newly described ‘Obelisks’.” Rachel Jessey MSc, Naturopath, Nutritional Therapist & RAPID Member

Carlos Brogna's research suggests that SARS-CoV-2 acts like a bacteriophage, by infecting bacteria and directing synthesis of these toxin like peptides, which are then released into the host. It is thought that these peptides contribute to the extra-pulmonary symptoms (e.g., neurological issues) due to their neurotoxic and inflammatory effects.

We Support Clients with Long COVID, Post-Viral Fatigue, MCAS and PoTS
As a leading practice as a post-COVID nutritionist and naturopath in the UK, we understand that navigating your illness can feel overwhelming, with many individuals struggling to find the right support and understanding of the complex interplay between the microbiomes, nervous system, immune and stress responses. Many people are left dealing with multiple diagnosis from may different experts but have exhausted all traditional intervention options with limited success.
Our expertise and experience lies in guiding patients through this complex journey by addressing the foundations of health. We have noticed in our clinic some (not limited to) common denominators that appear to increase the risk of developing post covid illnesses:
-
Previously healthy and busy lifestyle (which usually translates to a history of stress, over-working, over-exercising, limited rest and burnout - this can occur in both adults and children)
-
History of past GI infection / food poisoning event
-
History of immune dysfunction / recurrent infections
-
History of poly-antibiotic and PPI use
-
Previous history of hayfever or mast cell activation reactions - you can see more on this in our histamine intolerance and mast cell activation syndrome page
Our approach helps assess and optimise nutrition status, supports microbiome regeneration, addresses circadian misalignment and reduces inflammation.
SYSTEMS APPROACH TO MICROBIOME REGENERATION
Understanding the microbiome is complex and to date there is no such thing as a microbiome expert, because everyone knows a lot about very little when it comes to this area of science. Microbial communities engage in sophisticated communication and information transfer that involves classical chemical signalling to quantum mechanics. This includes quorum sensing, biofilm formation, and electrical and biophoton signalling between bacteria and where there is electric there is noise, magnetism, light and water, no one considers these facts when they study the microbiome.
The probiotic and gut health industry will have you believe that a probiotic supplement or microbiome technology is all that is needed to shift these structures, which is completely misleading. Effective treatments and interventions will require a more holistic, systems-level understanding rather than overly reductionist thinking. Over simplistic treatment approaches leads to further disruption to the microbiome and should be approached with caution in those experiencing post covid illnesses.

ONLINE LEARNING
We are launching a suite of courses aimed at the both general public and practitioners to raise awareness and provide education and clinical tools for some of the most complex of cases - these are being uploaded to our substack and are being continually updated.
